Comment policy

CADC welcomes your comments on our blog posts, as long as they are respectful, relevant and civil in tone. In order to maintain this site as a community resource, we reserve the right to remove any post that does not comply with our Comment Policy, or simply is not in keeping with our editorial standards for civility.

Any commenter who ignores our policies may be banned permanently and without notice.

We may delete any comment that contains:

  • Slander, personal attacks or abusive, hateful, offensive, or racist language or material.
  • Spam or links to spam (repeated attempts to redirect readers to another website are considered spam).
  • Comments off-topic to the article.
  • All capital letters.
  • Intentionally inflammatory rhetoric.
  • Links to inappropriate or unrelated content.
  • Identical, repetitive comments posted on multiple articles.
  • Excessively long URLs.
  • Graphics.
  • Personal information, such as addresses, phone numbers, emails, etc.
  • Blatantly promotional content.
  • Reproduced copyrighted articles from other sources: provide a link only.
  • More than 1,000 words. Text continued to another post to bypass the 1000-word limit will be deleted.
  • Other content or tone that, in the opinion of the moderators, does not promote civil discussion.

CADC strongly believes in protecting the integrity and privacy of personal information gathered from our supporters and visitors to our website. Since the protection of your privacy is of the greatest importance to us, we have created this privacy policy to communicate our practices regarding the collection and dissemination of personal information that can be linked to a specific individual, such as a name, address, phone number, e-mail address, or any other information, provided to us by our members and website visitors.

You do not have to share personally identifiable information to use the CADC website.  CADC does not collect personally identifiable information about people without their permission. However, please be aware that our site links to a limited number of other websites and CADC cannot control and is not responsible for the content or the privacy policies of those websites.

We gather contact information when you contribute to CADC online or via mail, request information at an event, purchase merchandise, sign up for our e-newsletter or contact us by email and phone. We use this information to send you updates, action alerts, press releases, information about CADC programs, events and activities, local volunteer opportunities and membership and renewal appeals.

CADC also uses information gathered via the CADC website to improve our web-based services. CADC periodically performs statistical analyses of aggregate user behavior and characteristics in order to measure interest in and use of various areas on our website and to use such information to improve on our website’s ability to serve you better.

How you receive e-mails and e-mail newsletters

You will only receive email newsletters from us if you have a) expressly signed up to receive emails; b) taken action on behalf of CADC either online or in person; c) contacted CADC about a meeting, workday, or other event; or d) have been invited to sign up to to receive CADC emails. The information we gather from subscribers for CADC email messaging (including email addresses) is not shared with other organizations or parties.

In order to provide you with better and more relevant information, we compile information about email response and website usage. This information helps us to better understand our members’ site usage patterns and also what types of content and information may help improve your user experience on the CADC website. You may subscribe or unsubscribe to any newsletter or email communication from CADC at any time.

How to unsubscribe from mailing lists
